Welcome to Dunregis Great Danes – Where Excellence Runs in the Bloodline

Located at the foot of the Magaliesberg mountains in South Africa’s North West Province, Dunregis is a family-run farm that’s been part of the Meintjes story since 2011. Built by Hendrik and Hannelie Meintjes, the farm was chosen as the perfect place to raise our sons, Colin and Adrian, and to give our dogs the space and lifestyle they deserve.

Great Danes have always had a special place in our lives. The name “Dunregis” combines the Gaelic word Dun (castle) and the Latin Regis (of the king), reflecting how we see our Danes—as noble, cherished companions who rule the heart of our home.

Dunregis is also home to a variety of wildlife, including Springbok, Impala, Nyala, and Kudu, along with a herd of Meatmaster sheep. It’s a peaceful space where animals thrive and nature is respected.

We’re serious about ethical breeding. Every dog at Dunregis is part of our extended family and receives the love, care, and attention they need to thrive. Health and temperament are top priorities. All our dogs are thoroughly health tested—hips, elbows, thyroid, heart, and eyes—to ensure we’re making informed breeding decisions and reducing the risk of inherited issues.

In 2024, we expanded our genetic lines by importing Xenos, a stunning harlequin Great Dane from Von den Borkener Türmen in Germany. Special thanks to Ute Kramer for entrusting us with this incredible boy. Xenos has passed all his health checks with flying colors: Hips A1/A1, Elbows 0:0, and perfect results for thyroid, heart, and eyes. He’s a gentle giant with an outstanding temperament and a true asset to our program.

We’re proudly registered with the Kennel Union of South Africa (KUSA) and are members of the South African Great Dane Association (SAGDA).

Puppies are only placed in approved homes. Each one is vet-checked, vaccinated, dewormed, and microchipped before they leave us.

At Dunregis Great Danes, we’re committed to raising healthy, well-balanced dogs in an environment where they—and the families who love them—can thrive.

A little bit about our kids

Xenos:
Our Coach potato is very calm and relaxed. He travelled all the way from Germany to humiliate his mother at each show with his laziness. Exactly what a big boy should do!

Raisin:
Crazy Razy – the nickname says it all!
Willow:
Happiness. A black panther. Shiny and beautiful with the most joyous nature. That tail is always wagging.

Sky:
Mom’s little girl with the most innocent face ever seen. Wild and Stubborn. Also named Banana or Wild Boar.
